Miss Wethered won tbe final of the* English ladies' eolf championship at Hunstanton, defeating Miss Stocker seven and six. Miss Leitch did not compete, consequently. Misa Wethered was a hot favourite from the beginning and until she reached the semi-final went through comfortably with big margins by virtue of her imperturahle steadiness; In the semi-final Miss Molly Gourlay, a county player from Surrey, taking every advantage of Miss Wethered's mistakes, which were numerous, was two up at the twelfth hole. Eventually the crowd of a thousand saw Miss Wnthered putting for the retention of her title. On the 18th Miss,, Gourlav vast missed a long putt and this enabled Miss Wetbered to sauare the match with a stroke score of 77 to Miss Gourlav'« .79. Miss Wethered was lucky at the 19th. winning the closest championship match. Ted R.av. playing a medal round with Hirrv Va'rdpn. at Brailford Moor course, had a. score of 66 beating record of 67 held by V. 0. Whitton. Vardon took 72.
