BRITAIN AND IRAK
TREATY SIGNED (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian &. N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Oct. 11. Official■ The Treaty between Britain and Ink was signed at Baghdad on Tuesday. Sir Percy Cox, High Commissioner, declared that Britain would speedily secure delimitation of Irak’s frontier in order that when the Treaty was ratified stable government would bo assured. Irak could seek membership in the League of Nations, after_ which Britain’s mandatory responsibilities would cease.
The I'rtaty operates for twenty year's and gives Britain control of Irak’s foreign affairs and finances. Britain in return gives military and financial assistance. Fusul undertakes to frame organic laws, providing for a constituent assembly and constitution, to maintain religious freedom, mid an open' door for trade with all nations. Government circles claim that the Treaty forms a complete to the allegation that Britain was exploiting Irak for commercial purpose.
