By the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, hawthorn has been plaecd in the third schedule which includes plants which may be declared by a local authority to be noxious weeds. ■ Mr Reed (Bay of Islands) stated in (he. House that some local bodies had refused to declare hawthorn a noxious weed, and there was thus danger of lircbligbt. spreading. He understood the Minister for ■ Agriculture had prepared a Bid dealing with firehlight, and had submitted it to persons interested, and he wished to know if he intended to introduce it this session. Mr Nosworthy replied that the Bill was not drafted, but he had submitted a rough outline to the Fruitgrowers' Fed oration. He proposed now to place n before Cabinet.
