MATERNITY CASES AT THE HOSPITAL
NO ACCOMMODATION
AN APPLICATION REFUSED
In the course of his monthly report to the Hospital Board to-day, the Resident Surgeon (Dr Low) stated that he had been approached by a woman in poor circumstances for permission to enter the hospital for confinement. Dr. Low was of opinion that such cases should not enter hospital unless there, is a proper ward and a staff to look after' ili„- --.resent there was no suitable accommodation, and the presence of septic, eases in hospital made one very reluctant to undergo the responsibility of confinements in hospital. However, lie had placed the position before the Board for their consideration. The chairman said the question was a big one. Tl was resolved that owing to there being no maternity ward at the Hospital, the Board regretted that it was unable to accede to the request. ,
