BRIGHTWATER SHOW
A meeting of the committee of the Brightwater Horticultural Society was held on Thursday evening when there was a good attendance of members present. The secretary reported that he had distributed a large number of catalogues for tho forthcoming - slimy, but that he still had a few left for anyone desiring one. „ , The president, Mr A. B. Hall, reported that the Railway Manager was agreeable to delay the evening tram to Nelson on the Saturday of the Show, and it was resolved to ask that it tic delayed so as to leave Brightwater at 6 p.m. This will afford the townsfolk an opportunity to have a run out into the country on the half-holiday to see the best that tho country can produce under tho gardener’s care, and spend a pleasant hour or two in social intercourse in the beautiful district where the show is held. . . A committee was appointed to airangt- for competitions for those of the more active temperament, and amusement for those who care to look on. Tim Brightwater Brass Band lias promised to play selections and -Aict- ■ deacon Kempt homo is arranging lot a concert party to entertain during the .evening. , | Every possible arrangement was niacto to ensure the success of the show and everyone is in good heart tit the prospect the season affords. The President emphasized the fact that in the competition for the host packed case of apples, it was not the quality of the fruit that was to he judged but the neatness etc. of the packing. Suggestions wove made t for better staging of the pot plants, which are always, such a feature of the show, and all' that can he done will bo done to. show off tho beauty of Nature’s handiwork.
