In spite of the weather, a. full house witnessed the big programme at Hayward’s on Saturday night. “It Can Ho Done,” a Vitagraph drama, is « queer narrative ot an author who attempted to live one of his improbable stories. It. is full of suspense, romance, love, adventure, and humour. Earle Williams does not aspire to enact a story where the hero goes about with a chip on his shoulder seeking a. quarrel. He prefers the story that deals with tho situations a young man m real life is meeting every day, and tries to enact these situations in such a manner as to give tho youth an inspiration. Tho plot is interesting, and deals with profiteers and (suggests a method of dealing with them in a. maimer that will benefit the public and reduce the high cost of living. As many were prevented from attending the Royal on Saturday night by tho weather conditions, “Tho Diamond Queen” serial will bo shown at Hayward’s to-night. To-night’s change of programme is a particularly strung one. The big feature film is that great .Paramount success, “Held by the Enemy,” with Wanda Hawley, Agnes Ayres, Jack Holt, Lewis Stone in the cast, it is produced ou a tremendous scale, in its spectacular beauty, its romance and human appeal. The story is from the play of the same name by William Gillette. Everybody has heard of it. Face to face at last, the two men who loved her! One, her fiance, seeking to do his duty by those who honoured and trusted him. Tho other, a hatred enemy of her people—yet the man she had learned to love, despite all her denying. Love and duty—which did tills proud woman choose? The answer is in this heartstirring romance, a wonder picture, teeming with thrills and tingling with heart throbs. There is also an excellent Burton Holmes’ travelogue, a Gazette and a Paramount Magazine. “Forbidden Fruit” -will be screened at the above Theatre on Wednesday. This picture is to be screened to adults only; no one under 14 years will be admitted. The box plan for this super picture is now open at Begg’s, and the management stated it is filling rapidly. The prices will remain as usual.
