Dorter, Radmerston North, trapper, to recover 40 opossum skims or their values, 12s 6d each. Ihe plaintiff was the owner of a farm at I’iivaparauinu. on which there were a large nmiiher of opossums, Ho granted' the defendant the trapping rights, and tho defendant obtained a largo number of skins. The plaintiff claimed that- it had been agreed that ho was t« receive 40'" of the best skins for himself as the. consideration for granting the defendant, trapping rights, i ns was denied by tho defendant, but aftci hearing the evidence Mr Ridaejl gave huigineiit for plaintiff for tho delivery of 40 skins or their value, whiyh wts fixed at 11s 6d each.
‘Death due to accidental suffocation while lying in a perambulator, was Um verdict returned by the coroner, Mr « • E. Wilson, S.M., at an inquest held at Dcvonport concerning the death ol a three mouth’s old baby named Leinard George Harris, son ol Mr W. -■ Harris, of Wicklow Road, Dcvonport. The child, which had . enjoyed good health, was put to rest in the perambulator about 3 p.m. by the mother who a little time afterwards heard a. faint cry. On looking at the infant, however, she thought it was asleep, hut ten minutes later she found it-.lying face downwards in the' pram, with hie extince. The latest monthly abstract of -Statistics reveals that the index number for the three food groups as at October lo (Dominion weighted average) was 1,5/4, a. decrease of 46 points as compared with the preceding month s figure (1,72 u), and an increase of 56.45 per cent, as compared with that for duly, 1914.
