WAR GRAVES

ANZAC DAY INSPECTION

The Internal Affairs Department (war graves branch) has received mlvico from the Imperial War Oaves Commission that, as an outcome of the appeal made to residents in Great Britain, who reside in the districts where there arc military cemeteries, to undertake an Anzac' Day pilgrimage, reports have, been received at Australia House, London, showing that between 500 and 600 graves of New Zealand soldiers who are buried in England were visited. In many cases photographs of the ccme-, leries accompanied the reports, showing that care and attention wgs being given to the graves. As soon as possible. the War Graves Department intends to furnish a separate report on each grave, and (lie reports arc to bo sent to the next-of-kin of each deceased soldier together with a photograph of the cemetery in which the interment has taken place in eases where a photograph lias been supplied. The Imperial War Graves Commission has signified its intention of publishing in "book form a record of deceased soldiers who are buried in the various military cemeteries. A Icathcrhonml volume'will be given in charge of the caretaker of each, cemetery m order that visitors may be able lo ascertain at once where a particular soldier is buried.
