OBITUARY

MRS 0. LAWSON

After a short illness, patiently borne, there passed, away at Otira the other day, says the Greymouth Star,, one of the most highly respected and lovable old ladies of the Coast, in the person of Mrs Mary Ann Lawson, widow of tho late Air G. Lawson, who prior to his death about 25 years ago was well-known throughout the district. The lato Mrs Lawson came to New Zealand about 1862 when she was tho wife of the late Henry Miles Pring. At a comparatively early age she was left a widow, subsequently marrying the late Mr Lawson. Tho deceased lady was of a retiring disposition, but her genial personality and obliging nature made tier beloved by all who knew her. She had been - lately residing at Te Kinga at tho residence of her granddaughter, Mrs Tyson, but recently moved to Otira where she has been residing with her daughter, Mrs Paul Mordaunt. Her death took place at the age of 87 years. She leaves six children: Mr E. Pring (Greymorith), Mrs Mclllroy (Christchurch, formerly of Greymouth); Air Geo. Lawson (Gisborne), Mr ,W. Lawson (Nelson), Mr B. Laws6n (Ikamatua) and Mrs P. Mordaunt (Otira).
