The race was a most dramatic one. All the horses fell on the first circuit except the winner. Brown, Bore’s rider, broke his collar hone. Shaun Spadah was the only horse to cover the course without mishap. Turkey Buzzard was fourth. No other horse" finished. A similar position arose in 1911, when Glenside was the only horse to complete without falling, and finished at a walking pace.
