The Cowan School Committee submitted a protest against the transfer of Mr Lapps and to the appointment, of a local resident as relieving teacher. The side objection appeared to he on lit' ground of relieving teacher's health, although a medical certificate cT physical fitness had heeit obtained from a doctor approved of hy the Hoard. The Committee eloseil til" School, hut the Hoard instructed one of its ollieers to re-open it and advised all parents that unless theii children attended prosecutions would follow. It was eventually resolved that the appointment of a relieving teacher be continued and that applications be invited for a permanent teacher. The secretary's action in the matter was endorsed.
