BALLOONISTS’ ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY

The American balloonists who were blown out of their course and suffered great hardships, have arrived at Mattice, North Ontario, after fifteen days’ march over frozen river trails. A REGRETTABLE INCIDENT (By Electric Telegraph —Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association) OTTAWA, Jan. 12. Following on the arrival of the United States airmen at Mattice, a regrettable incident occurred. Lieutenant Hinton, who sent a letter to New lork stating that one of he airmen, Lieutenant Farrell, offered to die in order that ins body should bo used to feed tho others was viciously attacked by Farrell, who claimed that the incident never occurred. Hinton’s face was bruised. , The three .airmen, though apparently physically fit, had been suffering grievous mental tortures and serious bickerings throughout the journey. Farrell alleged that safe landings could have been made but fto others carelessly desired to take “ie ! chance and drift as far as possible.
