DOMINION SCHEME EXPLAINED: V - . ME.. WALLACE’S CAMPAIGN, At the monthly meeting of the Riwaka Fruitgrowers’ Association, held in the Public Hall, Riwaka,. last night, Mr. Wallace, the well-knowh . fruit salesman, was given an opportunity of placing his Dominion .sale® ,!sch®nio -before fruitgrowers, which he did with considerable detail, and at the close of his explanation h© numerous questions put with the object of elicit-. ing further information. > ■ Mir Wallace’s statement of the d®toils of the Dominion distribution, scheme was followed with close attention, and a resolution was passed expressing the Association’s approval of th® scheme and its intention of supporting it; Mr. James Hunter, secretary qf.the Provincial Fruit Council, also attend- 1 ed, and was to: members, and given an opportunity ,of making > short statement. Mr. Hunter afisur#. the meeting that-the Federation paffd the Council ,wer© working ffanhj6nip v usly together, and making rapid progress towards the solution of various .difficuj; lies. A- sub-committee of the Council had been set up, and had gone to Wellington to interview agents, Ministers, the Director of the Orchards Division* and the Federation Executive on varieties, size® (especially for South America), lightering, and shipping i space,-and also to see the lithographers regarding the Maori Brand label, on which the Council Executive afmted the variety name printed in inch letters.
At the request of the meeting, iMr. Hunter undertook to get from the. Department a definite pronouncement on mealy bug and the Campbell case this morning. Mr. Goodwin, Orchard- Instructor', who was also present, answered sundry questions, and altogether the meeting was a great success.
