A painful shock was caused in the Riwaka district yesterday when it was known that Mre. D. Flint, who met with a serious trap accident on Christmas Day, had passed, away. It will be remembered that while driving from Kaiteriteri to Riwaka in company with her husband the trap overturned, and fhe late Mrs Flint sustained a broken ankle and an ugly wound. Deceased was taken to the residence of her brother, Mr. H, McLean, and Dr. Deck was called in. Satisfactory progress wa« being made towards recovery, hut tetanqs set in a few days and Mrs Flint j succumbed yesterday, as stated. The l?te Mr®. Flint was a member of a well-known Riwaka family, and had endeared herself to a wide circle of friends, who will b e much grieved to hear pf her untimely death, A particularly bad circumstance is the fact that Mrs. Flint had been married only a few months, and to her bereaved husband and relatives the greatest sympathy will he extended.
A London. Press cablegram states that Mr. Lathlain, Mayor of Perth, was made la Knight Bachelor on the occasion of Perth’s jubilee. Constable Graham, of Wellington, has been transferred t-» Nelson., in nlace of Constable Burn, resigned.
