AN APPEAL.
i (To the Editor.) i Sir, —I wish to bring under the notice lof your readers the fact that it is the j wish of the .Nelson Fire Brigade to ; send a team to compete at the demon- ’ stration which is being held at Napier in March next, under the management of the United Fire Brigades’ Association. I am sure the public appreciate the work and the ready response given by my Brigade: but I would like to •'point'out that lor these services we rei- * reive no payment wliatever. We are purely a voluntary body, and willingly give our time and bent attention to save life and property, and very often l at considerable inconvenience and expense to ourselves. It may not bo known that we cannot use the money voted to us by the City Council for other than fire-fighting expenses. But wo have a recreation fund, which is money presented to us lin appreciation for services rendered lat a fire. This fund at present is about £l6, which the members prSposg, to transfer to the team fund. Any donation forwarded to Mr. E.
