At the Carbonising Company’s meeting it was decided to liquidate, ■ Mr. Gerald Balfour stated that the liabilities amounted to £372,000, and the immediate assets were practically nil. Wh© Company owed th© Government £200,000. The directors and families had invested £405,000 in the company. The failure was due to the war and financial stringency.
