LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL APPONTMENT.

(To the Editor.) j - j , Sir,—-The resolution passed by the Waimea County Council seems an unwise one at the moment. Nelson needs a representative in the TJp- ( per House ver ybadly. We gave .thel Government a slap in the face at,t he last election hy putting in an Opposition candidate. I believe the Governraent will treat the district fairly. If we start attempting to dictate o the Government whom they shall appoint we shall endanger what chance we have. The Chamber of Commerce has been working for 'this object for years past, but they have been wise enough to mention no names but to leave the appointment entirely to the Government.
