STOKE HOAD BOARD
‘j h e usual monthSy meeting of _ the Stoke Road Board was hold on Friday, October Ist, there being present;— .Messrs F. W. 0. Smith (Chairman), .N. T. Cooke. T. B. •. F, C. Rage, and Macmahon, Report on .Hoads. — Hope : (. nlverls put in in Aniseed Valley. Messrs Clnsnail and Rage to. inspect Aniseed Valley road, and have the necessary repairs earned out. —Appleby; Cooks road to be metalled as soon as possible.—Stoke: It \ya s decided to again make application for a grant to grade and metal back road at .Stoke, and to write Mr. Atmore on the subject. •Correspondence was dealt with . as follows;
From S. W. Hogg, Talmna, re gatcp on road leading to Hursthonse estate. —The Chairman and Mr Mncniahon to report to next meeting. From M. Reeves, re back road, at Stoke. —Road to be put in order as .soon a« grant ie available. The secretary was ' instructed to write to ranger re stock straying on roads. .Amounts were passed for payment amounting to 841 14s sd. THE W AIM FA. The number of lambs this year appears to be above the average. Messrs C S. Haycock and Hons .accounted for 7hO on their Aniseed Valley run last week, and expect about 100 more helore shearing time at the end of November (about 80 per cent.); Messrs .lames Hart and Sons,. Mr. A. btiatlord, Mr. Ross, and Mr. A. Max also give good reports. On Haycocks’ run iwo ewes wore seen with triplets. Wo are having favourable, rains, and (Hero is promise of abundance of grass. Properties continue to change hands, and m every case the seller makes a profit, which shows well lor the future of the district.
' The only doubtful thing is wool ; but most people are confident that' that will be a payable price and in fair demand.
