In the House of Commons, questioned in regard to a reported offensive against the Bolsheviks by General Wrangel, Mr Lloyd George stated that the Government had clearly informed General Wrangel that Britain would not be responsible for his army If he undertook an offensive.
BOLSHEVIKS AGAIN DEFEATED (Rec. June 11, 9.50 a.m.) WARSAW, June 11. Notwithstanding the arrival of enemy reinforcements the battle on the Beresina resulted in the defeat of the Bolsheviks. The Poles, on June 9, advancing to attack, expelled the enemy from positions beyond the River Auta, and took 600 prisoners. (Rec. Juno 12, 9.35 a.m.) PARTS, June 11. A Warsaw communique states that the Bolshevists were repulsed and are now withdrawing on the whole front. Fighting is taking place in territory whence the Bolshevist offensive started. Three Bolshevist divisions were practically annihilatd. RUSSIAN GOLD (Rec. June 12, 9.35 a.m.) PARIS, June y. It is announced that Sweden has decided to hold Bolshevist gold sent to Sweden, pending a settlement of policy. French newspapers welcome the precedent.
