HINCKLER’S ATTEMPT (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association! LONDON, June 9. Hinckier used twenty gallons of petrol during his flight from London to Turin. Replying to a suggestion ■ that climbing tire Alps was a tough proposition for such a small craft. Hinckley said that when he reached there, he would have only a couple of gallons of petrol and the machines ceiling would be better than anything the old Alps could put against her. Hinckier did not receive any financial assistance. Mr Grey adds that Australia should be proud of this wonderful pilot. Descrcibing the passage of the Alps in a letter to his wife Hinckier sayfe, “As I gained altitude I could see nasty blank peaks poking through, ‘it was a heavy task for the poor engine though, when up 10,000 ft.
