The report of the Wheat Commission deals only with the of the State office. -Other matters are still in abeyance owing to the, illness of Mr Georgeson, In the aggregate the- report is severe ini condemnation of the confusion and muddle which prevailed at the wheat office until practically -the beginning of 1919 His Honour found: there had been heavy losses both, of wheat and money ; but at present it was imposriVe to estimate I the loss of wheat. Tie- evevely condemns the failure. -to appreciate the seriousness of the mouse plague until extensive, damage was done. The office wa- not adequately staffed with experienced! men, and they became overwhelmed with i(h e magnitude of the business which ultimately confrontedthem. His Honor reported that certain persons appeared to have conspired to defraud the office in connection with contracts ‘for supples.
