NASAL CATARRH.
results rooms.
At a lecture, dealing with “The Early Symptoms in Childhood of Serious Physical Defects in Later Life,’ Dr H.. LCameron, physician, Children’s Department, Guy’s Hospital, . spoke of nasal catarrh as a result of living in stuffy and infected rooms, crowded with people. Adenoid vegetations grow m the airway, and the nose thus becomes blocked. The bones of the jaw, nose, and palate fail to expand owing to mouth-breathing and a narrow, obstructed airway. The teeth fail to develop or are crowded together, and have not a good alignment, do 'not erupt fair. Iv and squarely. The enamel during these feverish catarrhs is deposited badly and is thm and fragile. Much of the work done at the dental chines for children is “mere tinkering, because fhe material is faulty from tnO first. If the first two years of me could be passed without disturbance •there would he no need to worry about the teeth. Obstruction in the nose is responsible for ear trouble, deafness, and middle-ear catarrh; also a narrow, ill-formed chest, conducive to respiratory diseases. It, is not f° r nothing that when we want to select . strong men our standard of chest measurement | is high. Nasal obstruction is also con- | stantly connected with a preddspos’tion to physical and mental fatigue. thus in the tiny, immature button of a nose of a baby changes take place, due to faulty hyireiie, which are going to thoroughly debase its future physical life.
