ROADS IN WHAKATANE.
SCHEME FOR IMPROVEMENT,
WHAKATANE, May 23. The Whakatane County Council yesterday adopted a scheme for an £BO,OOO loan to put the county roads into first-class-order, and probably f-arring the Whakatane-Taneatua and the Whalcii-tan6-Awakeri roads. The . scheme is to be submitted to a meeting of ratepayers and if favoured by the ratepayers will l>e submitted to a pol.l.Th© county chair, rhau is to ask the Government for a .subsidy on the loan.
