BURDEN OF A*LARGE HOUSE. Tho difficulty of keeping up a vicarage oltogther too large lor the occupants’ on. a totally inadequate income, has been partly met at Sunning d ale, jioi ks, by the. incoming vicar, the Rev. R. W. H. Acvvorth, who has taken 'another house of less,-, than, half the size, and) i s , leaving his official residence to he deajt with a« conditions and ciriiumtances a. 1 low. After contributing to the assistant curatefund and meeting the outgoings on the vicarage, the' Rev. J. G. Cornish, who resigned' this living in January, was left with £6O a year. In asking that his successor might be assured of a clear £l3O a year, Mr Cornish said the income from all sources came to £260. Out of this he had to pay for repairs £4O; highway and poor rates, £35; water rate, £l2; houw duty, £5 ss; income tax on house and garden, £29; to Queen Anne’s Bounty in respect of bathroom and heating apparatus, £ls; fire insurance, and other small amounts, all annual charges upon the house. Had' it not' been for the help given towards tTie assistant curate r, stipend—this being made a. first charge 00 the living—Mr Cornish, instead of ge* l .ir*f £6O a year, would have found, himself in the position of having to pay away £SO more than ho received. , , „
