In an interview an American financial expert, who has minutely studied the conditions in Europe, said ho woi>ld predict that England would bo stronger within a year than over before, because of her commercial enterprise and the courage with which she met her debts by taxation. Britain's situation with her wsr debt of 40 billion dollars compared favourably with her debt for capital and wealth at the conclusion of the Napoleonic wars.
