The traffic returns on the Nelson section of railways for the period ended Ist March show that the number of passengers carried was 10,909 as against 8,471 Cor the corresponding period last year. Live stock conveyed totalled 1870 as against 3,612. The tonnage handled was 3.206 tons as against 2,609. The <»tal revenue amounted to £3,450 8s lOd against £3,140 8s 4d.

At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Messrs PA .iSmrvllbr.be ■ -and G. Swafford, Justices, judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases: —Adams and Harley (Mr W. C. A meeting of the Sutor Art Society was held yesterday afternoon, Bishop Mules presiding. It was resolved .to forward through Mr Cockburn a letter of thanks to Mr Coleman, instructor at the Technical School, and bis assistants for valuable assistance rendered in preparing the exhibition screen.
