He thinks the situation is serious enough to warrant the Mayor a conference of employers and unemployed returned soldiers out of work, to see if some employment cannot? be found for these men immediately; Mr Leadley strongly complains that all over the city are employers who are satisfied to retain Iwomen in men’s employment' simply because it is cheaper. He says that the Repatriation Board at present-, has thirty clerks out of work, as e^. aa grocers’ assistants, yet jobs they might be filling are held by women'.
