Lieut. W. Benzies is leaving ihe Defence Department, and intends entering the commercial side of the fruit industry at Tasman. Lieu'-. Benzies during his connection with the local Defence Office, has been a courteous and obliging officer, and he will cary with him best wishes for success in his new departure. The unexpec ed death occurred yesterday, in his SOth year, of Mr Charles Arthur Curnow, who wa~ well known in Nelson and Cbllingwood. In this city he was manager of the steam laundry in Waimea-stveet, and before and after hat he wag connected with the management of the Rockville cheese The deceased was a member of the Nelson Defence Rifle Club. He leaves a widow and two sons, one of the latter being. Mr L. Ournow, secretary of the Nelson Rifle Association.
