NEW SCHEDULE DRAWN Ul>. (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 25. A reporter was informed to-day that the railway management has for some time been considering rates of pay of the railway service, and has now arrived at an estimate of the increased cost of various items, included - in the prog’amrne of improved pay and better conditions put forward by the different ‘ railway unTons. The management,' therefore, in accordance with the promise given' by the Minister, has invited the committee of the Railway Officers’ Institute to meet in conference for the purpose of finally disensinsg the revised schedule of .pav and conditions as> thev affect the members of the Firist Division. This interview will take place to-morrow, and on Thursday the management will meet in conference with the executive of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and will discus's rates of pay and conditions as j affecting the Second Division. At the j termination of these conferences the Minister will submit to the executives of the Railway Officers’ Institute and ) the Amalgamated Society of Railway j Servants, and the Engine Drivers, Five- \ men ,nhd Cleaners’ Association a sebe I dule setting forth the alterations in | pay and conditions which he is prepared to submit to Cabinet. After the schedule has been considered and endorsed by Cabinet it will require to be embodied in an Act and submitted : to the House for the approval of Parliament. The new schedule will be j submitted by the Minister to all three I societies on'or before March 31st. and I when approved by Parliament will bo j operative as from April Ist, 1919.
