MONTHLY MEETING. The following business in addition to that already reported was transacted aC yesterday’s meeting of the Waimea County Council Frcfra Lake County Council) urging that the Government and all county councils take action to combat the kea pest.—Resolved to endorse the request. From Town Clerk, Nelson, inviting the Council to meet Mr Parry on his approaching visit in connection with the proposed hydro-electric scheme for Nelson and Marlborough. Cr. Macmahon. hoped that the possibilities of the Gowan would not be overlooked.

Cr. Drummond said there was a big volume in the Gowan and a goad fall He knew of no river that could bo so easily harnessed. The Chairman and Cr. All t ort were appointed to represent the Countyi Council.

From the Town Clerk, Blenheim, editing that a Hydro-Electric League had been formed at Blenheim, and it was suggested that all local authorities within a radius of 75 fPiiies of the Gowan should jois the JjfAgue. It was resolved that the Council join the League. From’ the Stokp Progressive Association, protesting against rough broken metal being put on the roads without being blinded.—To be> (informed! that the matter is in hand.

From Messrs Newman, Brothe'm, complaining of the bad state of the road between Wangamoa and Rai Saddles.— To be informed that an extra gang is being put on. From Stoke Progressive Association,, protesting against a rifle range on Quarantine Reserve, and asking the Council’s endorsement of the protest.— No action taken. From Mr. G, F. Smith, Tasman, complaining of bad condition of a-oad.—Re-ferred to Engineer. From 'Mr. G. A. Quinney, Tajjawern, asking for repairs to Glenra© Road.— Engineer to report From Mr, B. iM. Field, asking that £25 be expanded on road from Baton bridge to his property.—Sum not exceeding £lO to be spent. From Dqvedale Farmers’ Union, calling attention to certain repairs required in Dovedale andl Woodstock districts.— To be attended to.

From Motupiko Farmers’ Union, (1) re encroachment of Motueka River near Grindle’s; (2) covered in culvert on road between Kohatu and Norris’ Gully. —Engineer and Chairman to visit and inspect re encroachment; Engineer to put in a* culvert if possible. From Mr, H. Close, Wakefield, asking for repairs to road.—Referred to Engineer. From Mr. J. W. Palmer, Spring Grove, asking for gravel bank in creek to be unmoved.—ißeferredl to Engineer.

GENERAL. The Chairman was appointed to re present the Council on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Public Health in connection with a Hospital site. Mr. Henry Holdaway attended the meeting, and asked, the Council to make a grant of £ for £ for metalling a portion of the West Road, Moutere Valley. —Resolved that the Council contribute £3O towards metalling West Road on condition that the settlers contribute a similar amount; further, that the Engineer report on the amount required to put the west end! of Holdaway’e road in passable order. Resolved that the Engineer repair the decking on Old House Road bridge, Moutere. Resolved that the Moutere main roau be patched. Resolved that the road) between Korere and Clarkfe/ Valley be repaired as soon as possible. Resolved that the bridge near Kite’s and Griffith’s, Tadmor, be re-decked. It was resolved to apply for a grant of £SOO £ for £ for the re-erection of Jimmy Lee bridge, Wai-iti. The Engineer was instructed to report on the suitableness of the Jeffrey quad for the transport of metal. The Chairman, Cr. Allport, and the Engineer were, appointed to inspect Salisbury’s pit and report as to metal for the Stoke road.
