RULES. 1. Definition of a Hack.—Hack means a horse that has not at time of nomination won a race of the value of ISO sovs to the winner, or races of the eg* gregate value of 400 sovs to the winnoT. 2. All protest© must be' accompanied by a deposit of £2, which shall be forfeited should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. ProVided that in the trotting races the deposit must be £5, which will be forfeited if such protest be not sustained. 3. All Nominations and Entries for Trial Stakes dose at the Secretary’s Office, Nelson, on THURSDAY, 13th February, at 8 p.m. Nominations must be made in writing, addressed “Secretary, Jockey Club, Nelson,” and if ,by telegram < must be confirmed by letter first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees; also name, age, colour, sex and pedigree of the horse, and colours to be worn by the rider or driver. Any owner neglecting to furnish this information at the time of nomination will be fined OR

XnJ. 4. The Flat Races will be run undei thb Rules of the New Zealand Rules of Racing. The Trotting events will be run under the Rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association. 5. The winner of any race after the declaration of handicaps may be re* handicapped. 6. Every person applying for admission to any course, and every person entering or endeavouring to enter a horse for any race, andi every person having or subsequently acquiring any interest in suck horse, shall be deemed to accept all conditions and restrictions imposed 1 or implied by these Rules, and to be barred from questioning the Action of the Conference, appeal fudges, Association, Club, Racing Club, or body, committee, stewards, officials, igents, or servants in respect to any mch person connoted therewith othervise than is provided for in Part XXX, )f these Rules. '. 7. The Provident Fee is now £l, and nust be paid to the Association before lomination, otherwise a fine of £5 will De imposed. 8. Owners of trotters must give with' lomination the last three performances, md alsp the best winning time the horse las ever made. 8. Trotting events will be handicap>ed on time system 10.
