..The monthly meeting oi the Advisory Board of the Nelson Sick and Wounded 'Soldiers’ Fund ■Society. was held in the Mayors room last evening. Present; At/ WV W, Snodgrass'(president), .Mrs .Crawford, . Dr. F-. A. Belt, Messes Jimos Hunt. R. P. Riley, -«T. A. Wallace; E! S. Houlf, ; C. J. Harley, E. J. Allen : (hon, treasurer),’and the secretary ('Mr H.' Saunders). ‘ 'Apologies received from MessrsJ." H: Ooek and H.'Fverott. The of the alteration of rule 2 '(h), • which now ' reads ‘The benefit, relief, or assistance of soldiers add their dependents of ahy soldier who may Have Been killed or who, may have died. The expression ‘soldier’ shall mean and .include 'soldier®/',sailors, and auxiliaries ■ from' the Nelson district who are or at any time hav<j- ’been during the presefit war . . /’ A large .number of applications for assistance were' received from returned meij of the district. and' id nearly all ca«Cs : assistance ’ was granted. ‘ The executive’s, action in granting temporary . assistance to a number of soldiers ’WaS endorsed.; ' Aecounts amounting to £ll Us 3d were passed, for- payment. If wan resolved that the rules of the eoeiHy be' ; printed in booklet .'form. ■ The following is a. statement of the receipts and expenditure fbr the mouth of January, 1919 1 :--- Bank balance' - 'as per lad. statement, £4lB, bs : 10d. •’ Receipts : tontribations £l, / refunds £l6 ss/ branch receipts £lß' ss—£3s 10s. ' Total £455 13s 10dExpenditure: Payments to soldiers £155 ss, payments t odopendents £3B los,. |f loans to soldiers £205, administ-ra-jfion £2O ss. sundries £2 6s. Total £421 6s 9d. The statement shows a credit balance, after allowing for cheques outstanding (£l7), of £32 7s Id.
