- ME GOMPERS’ OBJECTION. - INTER-ALLI'ED AND NEUTRAL MEETING-WEP. % , - (Australian and N.Z. Cable Aeeooiation.) 1 LONDON* Jan. 21. The American Labour Delegation conferred with the Trade Ghlpn Congress Committee and discussed Mr Gompers’ proposal for an inter-Allied? and Neutral Conference instead of up' International meeting. The Conference was adjourned: It is understood that the British favour a* preliminary inter-Allied Conference, and do not support jtoe American delegation’s objections to an international meeting, f BEENE, Jan. 21, Mr Sanderson, interviewed, stated he was unable to understand Mr Gompers’ change of front. He was one of four members appointed by the last interallied' Conference to organise a LabourSocialist Conference to sit concurrently with the Peace Conference. It was this mandate which the conveners of the Berne Conference were carrying out. Mr Gompers’ objection is to meeting the Bolsheviks, but neither (Russian Bolsheviks or German will be* represented.
