BRANCH FIOBMED AT MOTUEBAu Oiii Monday afternoon a very successful meeting was held in the Methodist Churfah. Motueka, under the management of Rev. Mr Nichols, when Mrs Peryman gave an address upon "The Life and Work of Prances Willard." There was a good attendance, find the oil air was taken by Mi- P. 0. Moffatt. Mr s Peryman gave a short sketch of the origin* of the W.CT.TT. in the prayer campaign of the "Crusades," and its gradual growth and progress; and of the career of Frances Willard, a.s a teacher in school and university, an evangelist, working in conjunction with .Mr. T). L'. Moody, and as a Temperance worker, and the first President of .tho American National Union. She went on to speak of the drink traffic a s the greatest menace to our national efficiency at the present time, saying that the most patriotic work si.nv one could! do was to help to get-lid of it. .Mrs Pervniiui concluded l with an appeal to all to take part in this work, and to .the women especially to help by becomimembers of the Union, both for the sake of the bovs who would be returning from the front, and for .the greater efficiency of the nation as a whole. At the close of the address votes of thanks were carried bv acclamation to Mrs Peryman and to Mrs Moffatt. Mrs Peryman then held an initiatory service and a branch of the "Women's Christian Temperance Union wa s formed, with nine members Mrs Moffatt kindly consenting to become the President.
