TRAMWAY WORKER'S DEATH

AUCKLAND, August 19. As a sequel to the death of John Patton, a. tramway worker who was -nocked down by a motor car in Khvher J ass on August 12th, S. Carey and'Ruoart J. Morris, drivers of the two aira nvolved, were charged' at the Police "ourt to-day with manslaughter. Seregant Mathews gave evidence that :nv the way. to thei Morgue, Carey said, The worst of it was, I w.is on my wrong side. There was an obstruction n the other side, and I could not get ■vhrough." Witness : measured the space between an obstruction thrown up by he tramway gang and the kerbing, and •ourid it was 9£- feet.
