Rear-Admiral G'leasis declaii s that the United States has' a. largo t.muter of battleships preparing, side by side with the best ships of the British Navy, for an engagement on the high seas with the German fleet, which is expected at any time. He says: "I am not going beyond the border-line of secrecy wh»n 1 say that a few days ago ther»> came an alarm to the heads of the British Navy that the German battleships were about to come out. I know American ships were given a post of honour in preparation for an attack,"
