ALLIES MASTERS OF THE SITUATION. MANY U-BOATS DESTROYED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. Mav 22. 9.20 a.m.) 'LONDON, Mav 21. The' Italian Minister of Marine interviewed by Mr Ward Price (an English correspondent) stated :—"There is good reason to believe that we are masters of the submarine situation in the Mediterranean. The Allied fleets have destroyed a great many U-boate despite the 'difficulties, which are greater than in the North Sea. The naval situation in thp Alediterranean may he regarded with confidence. The. Austrian navy shows no signs of turning out to find vvs, \yoi vre ate well prepared if it did. There, are rumours that the Germang intend to fit Russian vessels for raids in the Aegean from the Black Sea but the probalities of achieving success are emalH"
