GERMAN PROCLAMATION TO ITALIANS.
The full text of the proclamation issued by th e German Military Government to the inhabitants of the conquered region of Northern Italy is reprodnced below. When compared with General Allenby-'s proclamation to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, which pro■vided for the carrying on of all business -without interruption, the safeguarding of all buildings, and thf .protection 01 inhabitants of all creeds, it affords an illuminating example of the different ways which Great Bri tain and Germany wag« war. - The German proclamation to the Italians is as follows--Proclamation issued by the Headquarters of the German Military Government at TJdine to trie Inhabitants of Conquered Italy. " A house-to-house search will be made for all concealed arms, weapons, and ammunit.-oi!. All victuals remaining in the house roust- "be de iveied up. Every citizen must obey our labour regulations. All workmen. women, and children over 15 years old are obliged to_ work in the fields every day, Sunday front 4 a.m. to 8 p.m ' will be punished in the following manner: . (1) . L azy workmen will b e accompanied to their work, and . watched bj Germans. After the harvest they wil l be imprisoned for fix months. and every third day will be given nothing font bread and water. {2l Lazy women, will be oblige-] to •work, and after the harvest receive six Urtrr.ths imprisonment. "(3) Lazv children, will be punished by Seating. The Commandant n.'serves the right t<> pnvsh lazy workmen with 20 lashes daily.
