MR P. C. WEBB'S SEAT.
A VACANCY IN PROSPECT. Though the German offensive has pushed (Mr P. C. AVebb's seat slightly into the background, there is still much speculation as to the mood of Grey s imprisoned Social Democrat, says The Post. _ _ )( One theory is that he will "sit tight, calmly waiting in the northern afforestation caniD for Parliament's decision. However, whether Mr Webb resolves to resign or not, it is believed in important political circles that the Grey seat will be vacant in the near future. The prospect is that a maiority of the 'House of 'Representatives will decline to grant leave of absence to Mr Webb- for the short session, and thus the seat must become vacant. It is understood that the Liberal Party will nominate a National Government Candidate.
