DOG TRIALS
EASTER TRIALS AT TAPAWERA
At a meeting held-at Tapawera on the, <ind inst., it was decided to hold dog trials at lapawera ae usual at Easter, under the auspices of an association to be palled the Nelson Bog Trials Association. Ihere will be two davs : trials, on Jester Monday and Tuesdav. A- large number of those interested were present Irom Nelson, the Waimeas. and surrounding districts, and a verv committee was formed to carrv" out the trials. It was decided to ask the ladies m the district to arrange for morning and afternoon tea on the davs of the trials, the proceeds to be given to patriotic funds. Mr George Macmahon. Mr H. D. Paton, and Mr F. W. Gibbs each promised to give a sheep for a, guessing competition. The programme for the trials will comprise iive'events. as follows:—No. 1, .head, bring back, hold in ring, and yard; No. 2. huntaway; N T o. 3 (for maiden dogs), head, bring back, hold in ring, and vard : No. 4 (for maiden doers), hmitxivav,- No. 5 (for dogs worked by boys under 16), head, bring back, hold 'in ring and yard. For No. 1 event a cup will be given, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. For events Nos. 1 and 2 the prizes j will be £7 10s, £3, and £1 and 10s ; for J No. 3 and 4, £4, £2, and £1 : for No. I 5 a special prize will be given bv Mr H. D. Paton.
