CLENHOPE TRAIN DELAYED

TRUCKS DERAILED AT SPRING GROVE.

DURING SHUNTING OPERATIONS. The ordinary train which left Glenhope at 6.50 this morning, was delayed "for two hours 40 minutes at Spring Grove this morning, and did not arrive in town till 1.40 p.m. It appears that while shunting operations were in progress at Spring Grove about 10 o'clock this morning, four trucks became derailed ahead of the trainj. necessitating their removal before the train could proceed on to Nelson. As there were only three railwaymen in the vicinity of the mishap, the replacing of the trucks on the rails took some time. A truck that had been kicked on to the main line ran back owing to the grade, and collided with other trucks being pulled out from the siding, and four were derailed. As stated- above, this was at the head of the train, and these had to be replaced before the train could proceed on to Nelson. •
