UPPER MOUTERE.
ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Upper Moutere Road Board was held on Saturday evening, Feb. 23rd, when all members were present excepting Mr Harvey. Mr A. Bensemann occupied the chair. Accounts totalling £8 8s 4d were passed for payment. A memo was read from the secretary proposed -Motueka Technical School, re the donation offered by the Board, and asking that the amount be forwarded.—Resolved that the amount of donation be paid. ! A memo was read from the County Clerk, informing the Board that the sum of £55 19s, being balance of rates and subsidy for year 1916-17,. has been paid to the Board's credit in the Bank of New Zealand, Nelson. —Received. J Another memo was read;- from the County Clerk, re the Conference of local I bodies, also enclosing form of objec- ; tion for the Board's use when required. ! —Received. I It was resolved that the Chairman be i granted 10s towards his travelling expenses in attending the conference of local bodies in Nelson. !A memo was read from the Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, jre permits for collectors for patriotic ! funds, also endorsing forms for use by j such collectors.—Received. I It was resolved that Mr F. I STOKE. S ROAD BOARD. | The monthly meeting of the Stoke Road Board was held on Saturday. ; Present: Messrs A. P. Allport (chair- ' man), A. Tosswill, T. B. Chisnall, H. | T. Palmer, and H. Cook. ; The Overseer reported that the members of the district and himself in6pected Railway road, Stoke, and it was resolved that Dr Andrew be asked to put in a pipe drain and pipes the same size as the railway pipe drain; also that Mr Glasgow be asked to deepen his ditch. At Rawhiti-street ditch required cleaning out and deepening, and also the ditch through Mr Terriss s property. He had asked the Noxious Weeds Inspector to see that all frontages at Tahuna were cleared. Gibson's bridge at Stoke had been reinstated. General repair work had ben done in the Hope and Appleby ridings. The report was adopted. The Overseer stated that the hedge at Fairhall's corner on the Aniseed Valley road had grown so high thai anyone coming down the hill could not see anyone approaching. It was a source of danger to the public. It was resolved to request the owner to cut back the hedge. Mr A. P. Allport was appointed to I represent the board in connection with i the labourers' dispute. I It was resolved to request the occu--5 pier of a section in Rawhiti-street, Ta- | huna, to have frontage cleared of noxif ous weeds, etc. The .secretary was m- \ structed to ask the District Engineer.. \ Railway Department, of permission to \ nut in drain from the south side to \ the north side of the crossing at Stoke. > It was resolved to inform Mr W. j Stone, ranger at .Tahuna, that he had • power to take proceedings against own- \ ers of cattle grazing or loitering on the 1 roads. . . ) It was resolved that the remaining f portion of Burton's Toad, Stoke, b- ; formed and graded. : The Clerk of the Waimea County 1 Council advised that- the sum of £135 I 17 2d. being balang of rates and subi sidy for 1916-17, had been paid in to the credit of the board's' account. Accounts, amounting to £46 176 6d were passed for payment.
