KIWAKA.

RIWAKA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH The little grey kirk which for 52 years has occupied the almost undisputed position of sole and only church for the district; was the scene of a pleasant and happy function on the evening of Friday. September 28th, when the annual meeting was held, and the congregation had the opportunity of meeting the new Moderator, Rev. G. Gibb, 8.A.. of Nelson, who visited the district and presided over the meeting. The reports of the Secretary, Mr J. B. Scott; Treasurer, Mr A. Drummond ; and Sunday School Secretary, Mr R. Drummond, were read and adopted. These all revealed a sound and progressive state of affairs. The Secretary's report made special reference to the service rendered by a number of ladies whose effort has placed the finances of the congregation upon a secure also to the fine effort culminating iff a- garden rr'v at the residence of Miss Fry, of U.; 1 <-'uiri, which resulted in the complete renovation of the church both inside and out. An excellent and stirring address was delivered by the Moderator, which will go a long way towards encouraging and heartening both congregation and office bearers. It \vz\* impossible to feel otherwise, indeed, than that the general personality, humour, and straightforward candour of Mr Gibb had created a profound and happy impression. | During the evening appreciative reference was m.'ido to the consistent and faithful services of Mr Ralph Bate, organist, and al? : o to the personal services of Messrs A. and R. Drummond, J. (».. and R, Soott. T.,. Duncan, and others in a recent working bee organised to improve the Manse grounds. A programme of musical and other items was rendered, the contributors being Mrs Street, the iChoir. Rev. G. Gibb. and Messrs R. Scott, Maxwell, find Harvey, The good work of the Choir under the baton of Mr Maxwell was favourably commented upon by all present. Supper having been served a most pleasant function was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem arid the Benediction,
