Mr B. L. Lane, who appeared for, the board, stated that Rattray was quitf willing to go, and was not a party to tho appeal, which was made entirely by the board. During the last twelve months over 2000' patients wore dealt with in the dental department of tho Christchurch Hospital, involving over 7000 treatments. Over 75 per cent, of the patients were children, and tho parents of these children, and tho adultß otTtained treatment in tho department, were, so far as the board knew, people who wore linablo to afford treatment uy a private practitioner. Since the war started members of the dental honorary' staff had been so busy in thoir own prat** tices that they could not give to the' <J*>-' partment quite the same assistance they could before. , The whole hospital.' staff was hard proved. .• ' • • The appeal was 'adjourned sine die," to be reviewed when tho is exhausted. l ' .••■-'■
