A fuller report of the Reichstag proceedings shows that Herr Roesicke complained of the uncertainty of Germany's war aims. It seemed that the Government was not convinced that the country was determined to win victory. Itwould be terrible if the Chancellor went j to a pea<;e conference with a plan to abandon everything. We demand the abandonment *of all ideas of an international renunciatory peace. Herr Scheidemann said: We also want something definite. ..'e oppose all policy Of conquest. The Conservatives want, to conquer the world. He said that .thousands \vere slaughtered against the people's wil). You cannot achieve the' purpose by' throttling- other nations. Herr Scheidemann aroused a tumult by declaring that the German policy of Conquest has resulted in Germany being regarded as a nation of robbers' and. v _a gan<* of thieves. ,' " Loud protests were raised., many demanding H'err Scheidemann's removal. Herr Ledebour subsequently, in debate, caused a sensation in the House by declaring that things must happen in Germany as in Russia. We must soon introduce We shall propose a ' Constitutional Reform Committee to take"'.preparatory action t<> that end. It' is noteworthy thav the German ] censorship deleted from the official wire less the following extract from Herr B'ethmaiwi-Hollweg's speech: "I won't o diverted from the proper pajh by Herr Scheidemann's threat of'revolution, j The German people will show that they i don't understand such a word._ I am not going to tolerate the suspicion that: r'side with the Social Democrats." j The latest reports give Herr .Scheidemann's actual words as follows : "If ] France and Britain renounce annexations I and Germany insists thereon,We shall have a revolution in the land." | TURKEY AND THE JEWS. j (Australian and N.Z.
