NELSON MEN FOR CAMP. - - -AN- EARLY SEND-OFF. A further portion of the Nelson-Marl-borough, quota of the 28th Reinforcements left for camp this morning. The steamer was timed for 7 o'clock,, and *he men assembled at the Drill Stall at 6.30, and; headed by the National -Reserve JBand, marched' to the Port. In * spite of; the early hour there, was-.a large attendance of the public, and the men ~~ ■were giveD a hearty'send-off. Owing to j a-delay at the Drill Hall the men were a little-late in, reaching the wharf, and as the steamer had to leave sharp fcj time in order to «atch the tide at.'tha French Pass, there was no .time for the ; usual speeches of farewell. CMr T. A. •H. Field, M.P., who was to, have been the official speaker for the occasion, called for three cheers for the men who were- leaving and three more for those •who had preceded them. The National Antbem. followed, and the proceedings, ■which-were of very short duration, terminated!. There was a fine muster of the National Reserve Band, which very kin./" turned out to take %he place of the 12th Keghnent Band, members ot the !ast-3" being in camp at Tapawera. \ The Band played for the first time the-quick step "Australia will be there/' a, fine march which will meet with popular approval.
