George Phillips was charged under; trie Anti-shoutiug Regulations with purchasing liquor on the licensed premises of Lhe Commercial Hotel, and inviting one Horold Jarvis to consume that liqnoi*. Charles Gardner, the' barman, was charged with selling intoxicating liquor to Phillips, knowing' that it was for consumption by Jarvis. Thomas Childs, the licensee, was charged witlf permitting shouting ou bis premises. [Defendants pleaded not guilty. Phillips, Jarvis, and the barman were'each fined' £5 and costs, and the case against Ghilds was dismissed, as .he was away from Palmerston when the offence was committed. William Hodgson was charged with shouting for Marther Kelly at the Imperial Hotel, and Bertie Basil Raynes, tho licensee, was charged with permitting the shouting to take . place. Defendants pleaded not guilty. The licensee was lined £2O, and Hodgson and Kelly £5 each.
