THE SLAVE RAID.
GERMANY'S slave raids in occupied territory are simply further indications of. what to expect from German rule. The fools who state they would'' be no worse off under- German rule should imagine themselves in Belgium or Northern France, just to'mention one instance. How would these people, fortunately they are few and 'far "between in this country, care to be among the 5000 unfortunates recently "deported" from Antwerp to work under brutal taskmasters in Germany for the -undoing of their country. After the fall of . Antwerp refugees were invited by German proclamation to return, protection and all civil rights being guaranteed to those who complied, while those who ramained away were threatened -with forfeiture of property. How does Germany keep her promises? In this instance by tearing people away from their homes and families to work as captives as the slaves on the Babylonish palaces. How fortunate New Zealanders are in their distance from the ruthless Germans and in the .protection afforded by the British Navy and. the brave men who are fighting the Empire's battles at the front!
