Cashelt street near the Cafe de Paris Hotel, yesterday afternoon, resulting in the death of Frank William Allen, ,a labourer, Y aged 42, residing in Madras street. Allen and- . Private Michael Carey (Sixteenth [Reinforcements, on final leave) were engaged' in a heated argument, 'Carey apparently suggesting that Allen •was a< shirker. The upshot was that Carey hit Allen three times in the face. Allen did not retaliate, and «tood with his'hands i n his pockets looking at his assailant. A constable <went up to the soldier for, '.the ipurposej of arresting l him, but "before he could do s'6 1 Carey, dealt Allen another smashing blow on the jaw. and knocked; him down like a log. The back of Allen's head struck the asphalt with tremendous force, rendering him iinconseious.
