Marcel Butin, in the Echo de Paris, says;that the British progress is slower than the French. This is -due to the difficulty of tie ground. The Allies are engaged, in a lengthy operation in which there is plenfcv of "work for artillery before the atta'ck. . It is gratifying that the haul of prisoners, besides the strategic result obtained was not paid for too dearly. "The Germans facing the Britisli multiplied their counter-attacks all day and night, and were sanguinarily repuked. . . , ~ /Altogether the situation is favourable.
